OPTION ONE:
"The Doors of Perception / Heaven and Hell" by Aldous Huxley. The book details his journey and insight while tripping on mescaline. It's dark and complex, yet is shown through a light narrative. It helps to see things differently is his point. While you can alter your mind with drugs to get a different perspective, it's good as a reminder that even without drugs, one can attempt to see the world differently.
The book offers a wide range of aspects and imagery that could help make the cover more interesting instead of confusing.

OPTION TWO:
"Franny and Zooey" by J.D. Salinger.
Originally two separate short stories, Franny and Zooey is a book about a girl, Franny, who has a breakdown where she's confused by religion and angry at everyone for their fakeness. The second part of the story centers more on Zooey coming in to help Franny; they talk and work things out regarding religion and self.
Sometimes life can be confusing and tough since it won't always be how you think it should be, but all these things can help define you and discover your inner self.
The book has a very plain and ugly cover for such an interesting and sweet story.
FINAL CHOICE:
"A Quiet Island" by Christine Brooks. Also author of "A Quiet Village."
A unique murder mystery centered in the calm paradise of Barbados, the story revolves around a company cover-up where the killer is revealed while you try to figure out who the victim is and how all the other characters tie into the twisted plot.
The book is a fun and different take on the classic murder mystery novel. It has many different characters and story-lines to feed off of and is cleverly written.
For a book with such intriguing stories, the cover is dark and... quite frankly I don't like the photograph chosen for the cover at all.
